Usage permissions

Access and Usage Permissions define what end users can and cannot do with a protected file. As a Security Administrator, one of the key responsibilities is to manage security policies. To perform it well you need to know different usage permissions available in system which later can be applied to a policy.

For easier understanding, let’s group the permissions as follows: 

Basic permissions

View

allows users to open or access a protected file.

Lite Viewer

allows users to open a protected file using Seclore Online (agent-less viewing and editing), Seclore Lite for Windows, iOS/Android, and Mac

Screen Captures

allows users to take screen captures, share the file using screen sharing tools, and access the file within a virtual machine (VM) or a virtual environment

Edit

allows users to edit the contents of a file

Copy Data

allows users to copy content from one protected file to another protected file only

Print

allows you to print the file (not available for Print to PDF)

Macro

allows users to view, edit and execute macros (programs) in MSOffice and OpenOffice files

Full Control

grants you all the rights mentioned above, as well as the right to remove all protection from a file

Offline

allows you to access and work on a file in offline mode

Share

allows you to extend your rights on a file to other users

Advanced permissions

Date and Time

allows you to access the file only on selected dates and times

Number of Days

allows you to access the file only until a specified number of days after a) file protection, or b) after opening the file for the first time

Machine Lock

allows you to access the file only on the machine from which you accessed it for the first time

Location Based Restrictions

allows you to access the file only from certain locations

When a protected document is opened, the Seclore widget displays the permissions and Owner details when clicked.
